Underneath the St. Patrick’s Day symbols of shamrocks and leprechauns is the true story of a man called by God to share the Gospel with the wild Irish–those same folks who captured him and sold him into slavery. He loved Jesus and the people of Ireland with a zeal seldom seen. This brother in the Lord is worth remembering and celebrating.

Here are some ways to make Saint Patrick’s Day meaningful and fun!

Picture Books

We always start with picture books. This is my favorite picture book about St. Patrick from Voice of the Martyrs. The beautiful story of Patrick’s life is told charmingly with delightful illustrations accompanying.

All Gail Gibbons’ books are so accessible to children with delightful illustrations and text that captures their imagination. This is her picture book about Patrick, Apostle to Ireland.

Get to know a real Christian hero with your children this Saint Patrick’s Day. You can still dress up in green and color four-leaf clovers, but take time out to meet St. Patrick–your kids will love him!

Until next time, Happy Homeschooling!

Warmly,

Meredith Curtis
